HAIR // black[break]

ATTIRE[break][break]
Vincent is rarely seen outside of his requisite suit and tie. He changes up the colors, but always keeps it slick, unicolor, dark, formal, suave; all expensive and tailored specifically to him. On the rare occasions in which he dresses “casually”, he wears a light colored button up shirt and dark colored tie, formal dark gray pants, and brown dress shoes. He does have a workout attire, which consists of a gray tank top, black athletic pants, and tennis shoes, but he only wears that in his personal gym. He often wears a bluetooth on his ear and always wears his rectangular glasses, not just for his nearsightedness, but also because he thinks they make him look more professional. He is never seen wearing anything inexpensive or ill-fitting.
[break][break]
GENERAL[break][break]
Vincent stands at a modest 6’2 with well-toned muscles (he carves out a couple hours each day for exercise) and a regal stature. He has sharp features and his skin is dark and smooth, free of blemishes. He is always perfectly clean shaven, his face is as smooth as the rest of his body, and he has very short, clean cut hair. Needless to say, he takes very good care of his body and physical appearance. He is obsessed with looking neat and professional and anything but poor. He always stands with his back straight and his head held high. He walks like he owns the ground he stands on, but he’s not at all in your face about it. Despite his regality, he comes off incredibly respectful and humble, smiling and nodding politely at those who pass, opening the door for others, etc. He has soft, courteous eyes, a genuine smile and a deep, smooth, voice like velvet. He comes off to most a charismatic, approachable, and not to mention incredibly handsome.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]PERSONALITY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
If there were one word used to describe Vincent it would be professional. Everything he does he does for the business. He only stops working to tend to his personal care, and even then considers it part of his job; he needs to look good in order to negotiate to the highest efficiency. He keeps a warm distance from everyone he meets. He’s polite and extremely well mannered, but rarely personal. He’s constantly talking to coworkers on his bluetooth and answering emails on his phone. He rarely stops to relax or socialize. He’s like a machine, always working, even when off the clock, twenty-four hours a day seven days a week.
[break][break]
The only time he stops, perhaps, is during holiday visits to the family, if he can make it. And even then, he’s working endlessly to impress his parents and his three older sisters, which he is never able to do. Vincent is heavily influenced by his family. His parents hammered in him the ideals he holds dear, and he is constantly trying to live up to the incredibly high standards his parents set for him and the standards set by his sisters. These standards revolve almost solely around social status and money. Whoever is making the most money, it’s believed, whoever has owns the most expensive things is the most successful. Thus, Vincent believes that money and property is what equates to success, so he tries desperately to amass as much of it as possible.
[break][break]
On the surface, Vincent is a strict rule follower, he follows the law to a tee, he never even jaywalks. However, he certainly won’t hesitate to break the law in favor of the corporation. He puts business before everything. He is incredibly dutiful, and, as his aligience is toward profit, it is always towards the business and what is best for the business and what will gain him more status and a greater salary in the business. He will not, however, break rules to elevate his status just for the sake of doing so. He was taught to follow the rules he was given and use them to climb to the top. To do otherwise would be dishonorable.
[break][break]
When socializing, Vincent is an incredibly warm and inviting person, but he never lets anyone in, he keeps a friendly professional distance from everyone he meets, although this distance may not be obvious at first glance. He's incredibly charming, he knows how to earn people's trust. This makes him an expert negotiator. He rarely uses his social skills to make friends, however. He believes getting in any kind of relationship would be unfair for the other person because he simply wouldn't have time for them. Vincent is nothing if not conscientious.
[break][break]
Morality is a complicated subject for Vincent. Business is first, obviously, Business is first, obviously, people involved in the business he sees purely as assets, not people, and feels no compassion for them, but beyond that, outside of the business, he sees people as people and will even go out of his way to help said people. Beyond business, Vincent is a kind, caring, gentle soul. It hurts him to see others suffer. However, his kindness only goes so far. He actively refrains himself from helping others too much because he thinks it is in someone's best interest to help themselves. He's believes people deserve a little push in the right direction, he'll give the homeless man a dollar on the street. But after he helps pick someone up, he lets them go, and it's their job to continue on their own from there.
[break][break]
Vincent has expensive tastes, and this includes his taste in art. He’s only interested in things considered “high brow” or “high society.” He only listens to classical music, only reads classical literature, and only watches well regarded modernist films, that is when he has time for such a thing. He only consumes the highest quality food and beverages. He travels frequently for business - he doesn’t really consider any place his “home” - and only resides in the most expensive hotels and residences. He won’t settle for anything less than five star.
[break][break]
Above all, Vincent is terrified of being impoverished.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]HISTORY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Sheila Hendricks and Bernie Maxfield grew up in the slums. They met in high school and formed an instant connection. They bonded over their shared desire to escape poverty. They labored tirelessly; getting the highest possible GPA in school, working a full time job, and volunteering, not for the sake of helping others, but simply in order to make themselves look more desirable to universities. And it worked. They both got full ride scholarships to highly prestigious universities. Sheila went to med school and became a successful and lucrative brain surgeon, and Bernie became a famous and affluent music producer, producing the most prominent pop artists in the industry. They got married shortly after graduating college, cut all ties with their past life, and bought a mansion in Maine. They soon had their first child, Madison. Three years after that, they had Sidney. Two years after that, Ashley.
[break][break]
Sheila and Bernie instilled in their children high standards and a harsh work ethic. They punished them severely for doing anything undignified or getting anything less than perfect scores in school. They never punished them physically of course, no, that would be barbaric, but they berated them with their words, removed what little privileges they had, and made sure they knew full well of their immense disappointment. As Sheila and Bernie were often at work, they often employed caretakers to look after the children, but only employed the strictest of nannies. All children were required to get a job as soon as they could and to partake in at least one volunteer organization. They received no financial backing from their parents. That isn’t to say their parents couldn’t be loving. They held nightly family dinners (which the children were required to attend). They talked, mostly about work and what the children were achieving, but still they talked and joked and laughed, and the parents took turns reading to the children at night. It was obvious Sheila and Bernie loved their children. They wanted them to succeed to their highest potential, they were terrified of having their children fall into the poverty they experienced when they were young, and that is why they were so harsh on them.
[break][break]
Sheila and Bernie, however, were rapidly falling out of love. It started with small passive aggressions, trying to one up each other about work and how much money they made. This aggression soon grew very palpable, tension grew in the air and stayed, suffocating the family. They started getting in verbal arguments. First about serious matters, such as money and the children, but soon the littlest thing would set them off and they would get into screaming matches about someone tracking dirt into the home. It became obvious that Sheila and Bernie only married each other for their shared ambitions, but now those that those ambitions had been achieved, they had little keeping each other together. Yet, they didn’t want to get divorced. To do so would be undignified. So, in a last ditch effort to stay together, they had one last child: Vincent.
[break][break]
It should be mentioned that Vincent came rather late into their marriage. His youngest sister, Ashley, is fifteen years older than him. So, growing up, he had little family to relate to. His three sisters got out of the house as soon as they could, moving away to prestigious colleges on the east coast as soon as they were accepted, Madison and Ashley when they were sixteen, as they skipped two grades, and Sidney when she was seventeen, as she only skipped one, something that had always been a large point of shame for her. Sheila and Bernie’s indoctrination of their children into high society had been highly successful, and all of Vincent’s sisters adopted their parent’s mindset, believing money was success and chasing after it tirelessly.
[break][break]
Vincent’s childhood was very similar to that of his sisters’ with a few major differences. First of all, he was constantly under the heavy shadow of his three sisters, expected to perform not only as well as them, but somehow better. They paved a path that he was supposed to follow, but this path led to a summit higher than mount Everest. Second, as previously stated, he had no siblings to grow up with, they were all out of the house by the time he was one. Under his parents’ strict tutelage, he had no time for friends, so he was a very lonely child. And third, after he was born, much to his parents’ chagrin, the tension between them did not dissipate. If anything, it grew. They tried to suppress their arguments when he was younger, but found they couldn’t help getting into shouting matches. Vincent spent much of his childhood hunch over a desk, studying, while the shouts of his parents bled through the walls. The family dinners were marred by false smiles and passive aggressions. Needless to say, Vincent had a much more stressful childhood than his sisters. This, among other things, led to him skipping only one measly semester of school, becoming the academic shame of the family.
[break][break]
His oppressive upbringing is not to say he never socialized. At school, he was warm and personable. His parents required that he take several academic clubs such as speech and debate and join the national honors society. He made friends, but he never interacted with them outside of school. He is in no way socially stunted, but resigned himself from an early age to a life of loneliness. No time for relationships if he wanted to succeed, and his parents’ relationship was only further proof of this.
[break][break]
He got a full ride scholarship to Harvard University, leaving for the spring semester when he was eighteen. As soon as he left the house, his parents got divorced. Sheila took back her maiden name and Bernie bought new a mansion for himself. At Harvard, Vincent kept the strict work ethic his parents instilled in him. He made no real friends and spent all his time doing schoolwork, taking as many classes as he possibly could. He majored in business and took several internships at local companies. After years of study, he got a Doctorate in Business Administration, and soon after was contacted by the Axin Corporation with a lucrative job opportunity.
[break][break]
Axin is a major weapons manufacturing company. They are a primary supplier for not just the US military, but militaries around the world. Vincent jumped at the opportunity and soon rose through the ranks, recently becoming executive assistant of the company. He makes an incredibly salary, giving him a near endless supply of money, he makes very near the top one percent of income in the country. He owns two expensive penthouses, one in New York City, and one in California that he moves between frequently for business. He travels all around the country, all around the world really, for business (never for pleasure) and he always rides first class. He lives the life his family expected of him, but he never feels his job his finished, he never feels he’s reached his goal, he never feels fulfilled. And his family has yet to be proud of him.
[break][break]
When metahumans started popping up, well, Axin saw a business opportunity. Vincent was one of the first people to be notified about the new program Axin would be implementing. The experiments they wanted to perform could never be done legally. They would have to take metahumans off the street. They would bring them to a facility that only a select few would even be aware of. Would it be moral? Of course not. But the best course of action is what’s best for the company, they haven't found anything yet, but if they could harness even a quarter of the power some of these metahumans had, they would be the most powerful weapons manufacturing company in the world. So of course, Vincent was fully on board, and even does his part scouting out potential metahumans...
